Hamilton

Allelon’s Hamilton ATC is directed by Pernell Goodyear and will be offering topics in several locations in Southern Ontario (including Hamilton, Toronto, Port Colburne, St. Catherines and Niagara Falls). The office for the ATC is located in Hamilton, ON just 30 minutes west of Toronto (and also has its own airport).

Hamilton is the ninth largest city in Canada and is likely the best-kept secret. Formerly a “steel town”, Hamilton now has a bustling service sector (particularly health sciences), arts and culture community, and loads of green space which those who pass by on their way to the Niagara region simply wouldn’t believe.

For those who require it, travel and accommodation information can be obtained through the ATC director by calling (905) 906-1299 or by e-mail at [email protected].

Hamilton ATC Staff

Pernell Goodyear Pernell Goodyear
ATC Director
In addition to being the director of the Hamilton ATC, Pernell is on staff at The Freeway in Hamilton, Ontario as a pastor. The Freeway is a church community and coffee house that he started in 2001 in one of the poorest neighbourhoods in Canada. He is also a founding leader at Resonate — a network of Canadians striving to love God and our neighbours in a changing culture. In 2005, Pernell started Cultivate Learning Parties, which are gatherings designed to inspire church planters and those interested in creating mission-shaped churches. He is married to his college sweetheart, Margaret, and they have three amazing kids: Samantha (10), Lucas (8) and Jacob (6). They live in a gorgeous old house in downtown Hamilton, Ontario with their miniature schnauzer, “Bear”.

Dave Witt
Tutor
Dave and his wife Alison have fostered mission-shaped communities in urban settings for the past 20 years through their work with International Teams. The first ten years were spent in Metro-Manila working in urban poor communities doing church planting and community development. Since 1998 Dave and Alison have worked alongside and as part of neighbourhood churches here in Hamilton. The heart of Dave’s work is exploring how churches can be authentically involved in the neighbourhoods they are part of together with other churches. TrueCity is one result of this journey.

Greg Reader
Tutor
Born and raised in Peterborough, Greg has extensive experience in mission on three continents. He spent 17 years in Europe in a variety of roles, including as a Bible courier in what were then communist countries, as a Regional Coordinator with International Teams, and as a church youth leader in Austria. He also served for two years in his wife Helen’s homeland, the Philippines, helping to establish training for Filipino misissionaries with International Teams Philippines. The Readers and their two children (Eryn and Daniel) moved to Hamilton in 2004 and since then have played a key role in the formation of TrueCity, a movement of churches working together for the good of the city. Greg is presently finishing off his MDiv at Tyndale Seminary and, among a number of roles in TrueCity and his home church, is helping with the TrueCity Missional Development Team.
